About this site

KabuDo is an independently run information site that breaks down U.S. publicly traded companies— business model, five years of financials, capital efficiency (ROIC vs. WACC), earnings quality, strengths and weaknesses, and risks—into diagrams and charts. Companies are added one at a time, in alphabetical order, each checked before the next is started. This site is not affiliated with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, any stock exchange, or the companies it covers.

Who runs this

KabuDo is run by an individual operator, @poorinvester, who began investing in stocks in earnest in 2008 and today manages a portfolio of Japanese stocks, U.S. stocks, Vietnamese stocks, and mutual funds. Because a company's overall picture is very hard to grasp from Form 10-Ks and other filings, @poorinvester built this site to lay out the information worth seeing visually and in a form that's easy to read.

Where the data comes from

Financial figures are pulled automatically from SEC EDGAR’s XBRL company-facts API, sourced from each company’s Form 10-K. Every period’s figures link back to the original filing on EDGAR so readers can check the primary source at any time. Where a later filing restates a prior period, the restated figure is used. Each company’s earnings calendar — quarter-end dates, earnings release dates, and 10-Q/10-K filing dates — comes from SEC EDGAR’s filing history. Stock prices, used to compute beta (against the S&P 500 ETF, SPY) and year-end P/E, come from Yahoo Finance’s public price data.

How the analysis is put together

The business model, strengths/weaknesses, risks, and other write-ups are this site’s own synthesis of each company’s SEC filings (Form 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K) and the company’s own press releases. Every statement is checked against one of these sources, and anything they don’t support is left out. Where a section gives this site’s own reading — for example, what an acquisition was meant to achieve — it is labeled as such and built only from sourced facts. Every computed figure (ROIC, WACC, earnings-quality metrics, etc.) is shown with its formula and a worked example using that company’s own numbers, so nothing is a black box. Full formula detail is in How to read this.

How this site is funded

KabuDo is funded by advertising (Google AdSense) and a referral link to its web hosting provider, as described in the privacy policy. It receives no compensation from the companies it covers.
